I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the roll design has played in history. I think about this subject fairly often. But this time I started thinking about it because WW1 occured a century ago. Why does that have to do with design? I’m not sure, but design is all around us in many obvious ways by also in many subtle ways we hardly ever think about.

Look at tanks, steam engines, posters, propaganda and numerous other objects. These things have surounded us for centuries, and we seldom think about them, they flow into our lives with out us even knowing, yet they are able to infulence us.

There a documentary coming out in a few week called objecified center around industrial design. I looking forward to seeing it and find out how it treats the subject. Where might it start, the coopers, the cobblers, maybe with A jewler?

Anyone who knows me, knows that I love furniture. Generally modern furniture. Several years ago when I designing a lounge chair I came across this. The Landscape is amazingly thin in profile, imagine a extruded plane.

This chair was the inspiration for my plywood lounge chair.

I just saw this beautiful car on auto-blog; the volvo P1800. One thing I love is well designed cars. Like the new Alfa’s, the Mito is totally amazing. It make the new Mini look boring.
